City of Tricycles
Do you feel weird when you’re around or have too much of something? I do. Too much air, I can’t breathe. Too much coke, I get a disturbing case of gas. Too much sleep, I get a terrible headache. Too much work, I get temper tantrums. Too much is too much for me. ^__^
Recently, I’ve had too much of something. Its the view of too much tricycles. I can’t blame the place…it’s one of their major form of transportation. It’s much like a taxi in this city, without the aircon, meter, and the comfort of a soft seat…hehe. One thing to describe the experience…practical. It’s easy to get around the city, just flag down one…state your destination…and you’re there! And for a minimal price too. It’s really fortunate that they haven’t raised their fare yet…almost all tricycles back at manila have raised theirs.
Unfortunately, tricycle drivers have a certain distinct similarity with our prestigious taxi drivers back in manila. They are picky of their customers. I remember one time I have hailed almost close to 15 tricycles and none of them gave me a ride. Its either they blurt out an alien sentence that I cant decipher or they just plainly go along their merry way without saying anything at all! What rude manners! And they really remind me of our taxi drivers back in our home city. But setting that misfortune aside, they’re a big help to the local commuters. Its a fun way to travel around the city. It gives a good view of the places that you go by and you dont even have to worry about too much black smoke…the city’s air is considerably cleaner than back at manila.
You may be wondering what city Im talkin about. No, its not Venice nor Paris. Its in our beloved country, the Philippines. Doesn’t ring a bell? Even a little? Well ok…what I call the ‘City of Tricycles’ is Naga City. ^___^
